Sales representatives have the most common part-time retail job. The position is mostly available in stores selling apparels, cell phones, hardware and computers. Those working in apparel stores are sometimes referred to as fashion sales representatives. Product knowledge is very important to better convince the customer to buy. People who have this job must definitely have people skills, a pleasing personality and tons of patience. Inventory of stocks, book-keeping receipts and operating cash registers are part of the work. There is no need for a diploma when entering this job but big stores require training programs for the newly hired. The median annual income for retail sales representatives is around $28,000.

Personal shoppers are part timers who don’t work directly in retail stores but the thing is their job requires them to be within retail perimeters. In short, personal shoppers are paid to shop for their respective clients. Some work in companies where they are provided with clients to handle. The clients are very busy people who have no time to shop for themselves or those who don’t like shopping that much. Celebrities for example have their personal shoppers. Their requests are usually clothes and accessories that they need to wear for events and shoots. The median annual income of personal shoppers is $35,000.
