Microsoft slashes Vista retail price in China by more than 50%
The U.S.-based Microsoft Corporation has reduced the retail prices of its Vista Home Basic computer-operating software package in China by more than 50%. The operating software package will now be available for $66, down from approximately $201, while the price of its premium package has been brought down to nearly $119. The company announced that the price reduction was an attempt to cater to growing market demand for operating systems. By the end of June, the company had sold 60 million Windows Vista licenses worldwide. The latest version of its dominant Windows operating system has been available since January 30.
Construction to commence on sports and retail center
A 39,000-square-foot retail center and a sports park are slated for construction at 116th Street and Hoosier Road. The construction of the retail center, expected to begin in the fall in Arbor Village at Hamilton Proper, will overlook seven youth soccer fields. Bob Echols, president and chief operating officer of developer HDG Mansur Properties, said that the design elements will symbolize Indiana history and will have historical and residential touches. A pathway will connect the fields to the retail center. The range of shops will possibly include gift shops, restaurants, day spas, and boutiques. Grocery stores and banks may be built on outlying lots in the future.
AT&T store opens third store in Atlanta
The AT&T store, which reportedly sells everything from cell phones to TV service, recently opened its third store near the Perimeter Mall in Atlanta. The first two stores were established in Houston and San Antonio. The company is also gearing up to open many more stores in the Southeast and elsewhere. AT&T plans to have stations in its retail stores where visitors can play with gadgets like the iPhone. David Scobey, president and CEO of AT&T Southeast, said retail stores will play crucial roles in the promotion and sale of U-verse, a cable-like TV service that will be launched in Atlanta later this year.
