The typical duties of a retail consultant are providing customers at retail outlets with product information, promotional offers, discounts, and related information; meeting and exceeding sales expectations; giving product demonstrations; maintaining knowledge of competitor products and offers and implementing competitive tactics; helping peers with customer service issues; and building business relationships with regular customers.
Retail consultant jobs may be available in any customer service or sales environment, such as a bank, a retail outlet, a shopping mall, or a sales department. Retail consultants may also be referred to as sales representatives, customer service executives, sales executives, retail executives, senior sales representatives, inside sales representatives, or retail advisors. To obtain a retail consultant job, one must have a high school diploma. Prior sales or customer service experience may help.
