Xenergy drinks to be sold in 95 Arizona Albertsons stores

A partnership agreement between Xyience, Inc., and 95 Arizona Albertsons stores will ensure the availability of Xyience Xenergy energy drinks at the Arizona Albertsons stores beginning August 1, 2007. The second-largest operator of grocery stores in the United States and now part of the SuperValu family of retail stores, Albertsons will help Xyience, Inc., increase its market share. Xyience, Inc., caters to the requirements of "active lifestyle enthusiasts" with "scientifically advanced" sports nutrition-related products. It entered the energy drink market in May 2006 with the launch of Xenergy. The first Xenergy flavor was "Cran Razz"; the company then introduced its "Big Apple," "Blu Pom," "Citrus Clear," "Pink Lemon," and "Mango Guava" flavors.

Wellesley retail property sold for $22 million
Wellesley Realty Trust, LLC, has sold its Central Plaza property to Linear Retail for $22 million. The 47,790-square-foot property located in Wellesley, MA, is fully leased to tenants including the Gap/Gap Kids, Wellesley Booksmith, Alta Strada Restaurant, and Grettaluxe, among others. The property has 115 parking spaces and is located near Wellesley College. This was Linear Retail's 40th purchase since the company came into existence nearly four years ago and its sixth in 2007. The NAI Hunneman Commercial Co. negotiated the purchase, and it will continue to provide property management services for Central Plaza after the takeover. Linear Retail specializes in retail real estate acquisitions and operations. It was established in 2003 in partnership with Principal Enterprise Capital, a subsidiary of the Principal Financial Group.

Dell's laptops and desktops to be sold in Asian retail stores
Setting aside a 23-year-old practice of direct sales to customers, Dell, the world's second-largest computer maker, is gearing up to sell laptops and desktops in Asian retail stores. According to Paul-Henri Ferrand, Dell's operational head for the Asia-Pacific region, excluding Japan, China and South Korea, the company has been holding talks with some retail chains and specialty stores across Asia. Because the area is diverse, retail chain sales will be launched sooner in some Asian countries, said Ferrand during a media briefing at Dell's Asian headquarters in Singapore. Dell plans to adopt a customized approach for each country, and it will keep in mind its target audience, selling both low- and high-priced computers in different Asian countries.

Sales of music CDs expected to plummet this year
Speculations are rife that 2007 will be the worst year yet for the recording industry, with retail music sales plummeting by an estimated 11%. This is the worst scenario the music industry has faced in the last 25 years. Compilations of retail sales figures have been recorded since 1969. A noticeable fall of 9% in music sales was recorded in 1982 before the advent of the compact disc. Surprisingly, piracy and free illegal sharing of recordings via Internet sites such as Napster are not the largest contributors to the reduction in sales figures. An increase in sales of iPods and other digital music players is said to be the major factor behind the music industry's massive losses. Data released by SoundScan last week revealed that CD sales have already slid by 20% this year.
