Designations and earnings depend upon, proficiency, performance, work-experience, accomplishments, and educational qualifications. Progress in the profession also depends largely upon social interaction skills as the position includes frequent interaction with both the public and work-personnel.

Most people in retail management jobs work in offices, stores, or warehouses. Job responsibilities may include supervision of workers in retail sales and related verticals like cashiers and customer service representatives. The primary focus on-the-job is to ensure satisfactory customer service and increase of retail sales. Managers in large establishments may be associated with specific departments or merchandise like cosmetics or electrical equipment. Major part of the time of people in retail management jobs is spent on their feet and in physically supervising processes and product distribution within premises.
