The Specialist for Foundation & Charitable Giving works closely with the members of the team supporting and coordinating various administrative, financial, and communication functions related to grantmaking within the Foundation and giving from the Best Buy Corporation. The Specialist provides a conduit role between the grantmaking/corporate contributions functions and other staff to ensure that giving activities are smoothly conducted.
Responsibilities
Best Buy Foundation
Sets up all board meetings (4/yr), committee meetings (12/yr; 3 cmtes quarterly), Twin Cities Fund meetings (3/yr) and prep meetings related to these bodies of work; additionally sets-up nonprofit site visits, etc.
Performs due diligence on foundation applications to ensure they are eligible prior being sent to Program Leads for Foundation grant program review
Conducts CyberGrants correspondence and ensure all BBY board members of nonprofits are communicated prior to nonprofit notification
Responds to Best Buy Foundation grant inquiries
Grants System Administration
Processes request determinations in CyberGrants and generates communication to nonprofits on all decisions. The number of applications submitted annually is 1,500 applications
Manages Impact report process and follow-up
Manages Best Buy Teen Tech Center payments beginning in FY23Q1. The number or applications submitted will be 150 and this number will continue to grow annually as we add Best Buy Teen Tech Centers
Consolidates duplicate organization as needed
Resolves grant payment issues
Troubleshoots and resolves grant application issues
Corporate Sponsorship & Donation Responsibilities
Responds to all Best Buy sponsorship and corporate donation inquiries
Performs due diligence on corporate applications to ensure the organizations are eligible before forwarding for review
Administers sponsorship and corporate donation applications tracking and follow-up
Prepares pending sponsorship/corporate donation requests and schedules monthly review meetings
Prepares check requests for approved sponsorships
Manages logo distribution and ad placements
Manages Gift Card requests/communications
Other Responsibilities
Prepares organization funding history reports for all nonprofit visits either in person or by phone
Manages and responds to Social Impact Inbox; fields requests and sends them to team members as appropriate
Maintains Foundation and corporate paper mail and handles postal mail as appropriate
Assists with prospecting/researching projects as needed
Engages in projects upon request
Basic Qualifications:
3 years Project/program management experience
5 years MS office – Word, Excel, PPT, preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
Detail oriented individual with ability to take initiative
Strong research and evaluation skills
Grant Management database
Corporate philanthropy
Solid understanding of technology and tech education programs or experience working with programs that provide programming for youth from disinvested communities
